OUR STORY

At Pottawatomie County Veteran Memorial, we're proud to honor the brave men and women who have sacrificed for our country.  Our memorial was designed and created by the Shawnee Veterans Memorial Committee, a group of dedicated and remarkable community members who wanted to honor the sacrifice of our military service members and their families.  They understand the importance of commemorating the sacrifices made by our heroes.  Their dedication and continued advocacy allowed for the creation of the memorial, which is unique in design and the only one of its kind in Oklahoma.

Our memorial is dedicated to preserving the memory and heritage of our brave veterans. We strive to inspire the future generations with the patriotism, courage, selflessness, and service that our veterans have instilled in us.

Mission

Pottawatomie County Veteran Memorial was created to honor the bravery and sacrifice of the service members who have served our country.   We believe in the importance of honoring the legacy of our military heroes - the brave men and women who have served our country.  Our mission is to inspire patriotism and to encourage future generations to appreciate and respect our nation's history.  Through our exhibits we strive to highlight the sacrifices and hard work of our past and present service members. Our goal is for all visitors to leave with a better appreciation and understanding of the value of patriotism and military service.

We invite all visitors to take a moment to reflect on the courage and honor of those who have served.

Vision

The Pottawatomie County Veterans Memorial, in partnership with Pottawatomie County, is working to create a military history museum for our community.

The historic Carnegie Library will house our museum which will highlight conflicts throughout U.S. history, and honor all branches of our military.  Your support will allow us to see our project to fruition.

Donations are collected and administered by the Shawnee Community Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  To donate, please contact the Shawnee Community Foundation at (405) 878-7300.
